Lexicon's Bible Verses

Here are a few Bible verses that make me think of my protagonist Lexicon.

1.) Proverbs 24:11-12 (NIV)
Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter. If you say, "But we knew nothing about this," does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who guards your life know it? Will he not repay each person according to what he has done?

Here is the same passage from the Message
Rescue the perishing; don't hesitate to step in and help. If you say, "Hey, that's none of my business," will that get you off the hook?Someone is watching you closely, you know— Someone not impressed with weak excuses.

2.) Galatians 6:9-10
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

This Bible verse reminds me of the antagonist(s) in my story:

Proverbs 14:17

A quick-tempered man does foolish things, and a crafty man is hated.

Anyways, I thought I'd share these verses.

The Precipice

I wrote this November 20th, 2008.

I stand at the edge of a cliff, watching as a river flows through the valley below. The wings on my back flutter anxiously. It’s time for me to spread my wings and fly--but I can’t. My stomach churns as I gaze down the precipice. I take a step back from the ledge. What if I can’t do it? What if I were to try and, instead of gliding easily across to the hill on the other side, I fell into the watery depths? The more I analyze what I had meant to attempt, the more my fear and doubt grow. I can’t do this, I tell myself. I can’t. But what would I do if I didn’t try? What if I give up and never try to fly? Then I would never know if I could have done it. I would always wonder and wish I had had the courage. I can’t go back. I have to try.

I spread my wings and jump.

Oh, Lexicon, Lexicon...

It's been a long while since I last wrote on here. I'm sorry! I really am! I hope that people are actually paying attention to my blog, though--if you want me to post more, I'd appreciate your comments. I can't post pix because I can't copy/paste.

Anyways, I've been working on Lexicon more recently. I'm very excited--just like I am whenever I get on a roll in writing.

Just so you know--Damien IS a girl's name. It's French for "untamed". DamiAn is the guy's name, which actually means "tamed" (interesting the difference one letter can make). Usually, when I mention that I have a character whose name is Damien, someone goes, "Isn't that a guy's name?" No, my friend, it is NOT a guy's name (I must admit, I had forgotten that, though). Also, I've noticed girls having names usually associated with guys--Hayden Panettiere ("save the cheerleader, save the world"), Jordan, Riley, etc. (can't think of anymore off the top of my head).

So...I'm trying a new system to organize my Lexicon story misc. info and I'm VERY excited about it. :) Instead of typing up the storyline, printing it out, and editting it/reprinting it everytime I want to change it, I've made nindex cards to put the individual events on. That way if I want to change something, I may only have to get rid of/add/edit one card instead of it being a big thing. I'm also doing a card for each character. I'm keeping all of these index cards in a little box that I can easily fit into my purse and take with me wherever. This way, most of the important info is organized and in one spot. Another cool thing is that the little box has dividers in it so I can label them, making it even easier to find what I need.

I know that notecards are not usually very exciting but I'm excited! LOL

I have some Bible verses that I'll be posting soon so hopefully they'll be more exciting.

Anyways, please comment (doesn't matter what post) if you want me to keep posting!

"...Those who are drawn toward death"

I think this is a most interesting and thought-provoking Bible verse. Please read it.

Deliver those who are drawn toward death,
And hold back those stumbling to the slaughter.
If you say, “Surely we did not know this,”
Does not He who weighs the hearts consider it?
He who keeps your soul, does He not know it?
And will He not render to each man according to his deeds?

Proverbs 24:11-12 (New King James Version)

Wow.

I was just flipping through the Bible last night when I found it and, at first, it makes me think of the Lexicon story I'm writing but it also makes me think about myself--not in a self-absorbed way, though, if that makes any sense.

I think, basically, what that verse is saying is that it's our responsibility to do what we can to help people. It's a real eye-opener, especially if you think about it in the context of witnessing. When God says to me, "Why didn't you witness to this person?", I can't lie and say "I didn't know they needed witnessing to" because he knows my heart inside and out. He knows that I saw the symptoms of someone without Christ.

Those who don't know Christ are being drawn closer and closer to Hell (yes, I just said the "H" word--it's a real place). How can I just stand by and watch without doing anything?

And yet...I do--or, at least, I feel like I do. I'm in a situation now where I deal with non-Christians on an almost daily basis because of my job. Shouldn't I use this as an opportunity to witness to people--to "hold back those stumbling to the slaughter"?

My parents are telling me basically that, at least at this point, I should just SHOW them Jesus, as opposed to TELLING them about Him. It works in writing most of the time, right?

I guess, I just feel like I'm not really doing anything.

I'm being told so many things and am seeing so many things at work that make me sad and put a bad taste in my mouth. Just watching and listening is terrible.

I think, though, by now that people are seeing a difference in me--if nothing else, I don't cuss. I wonder what they're saying about me? I was asked the other day if I had any children because I seemed like the "caring type". I'm not sure if that has anything to do with anything. Being seen as caring, though, doesn't hurt, though.
If someone came to me and actually asked about why I'm different or, if they knew why, about Christ. What would I say? What if I can't remember all the right Bible verses?
I don't know that you guys will be able to help but if you, my wonderful blog-viewers, have any thoughts, I'd love to "hear" them.

What Have I Been up To?

Funny you should ask!

-I've been listening to Beethoven!--and, no, that's not usually the kind of music I listen to. I've decided to immerse myself in classical music because a character in Lexicon (a girl named Damien) likes classical music. I'm trying to find the kind of composers she'd listen to. Right now, I'm thinking it's not Beethoven. (I'm going to try Mozart next.) But I think Beethoven has some fine music--I especially this one concerto (just found out it's pronounced "kun-CHAIR-TOE" and not "kun-sert-O"). It's kind of quiet but then it's suddenly LOUD and HAPPY at different times during the song. You should have seen me listening to it today. I was jumping and dancing like a crazy person. You should also have seen the looks on my mom and sister's faces, even though they're used to my occasional craziness.

-I've been hounding a certain restaurant so they'll give me a job. I'll be going there again today after chemistry class.

-I've been reading the book the "Prophet" by Frank E. Peretti. I've read it before but my loverly sister got it from the library so I decided to read it again. I still love it!

-I registered to vote!

Something I wanted to bring your attention to is the fact that today, September 22nd, is the first day of autumn! YAY!!! Autumn is my favorite season!

EXCITED!

Warning: this post is a little long but hopefully, you can make it. You might like it.
I've been very excited about writing in the past couple of days--I'm on a roll! Though I haven't gotten back to writing the actual STORY, I am doing awesomely.

I think Lexicon is a God thing. I just feel like I NEED to do it. Do you ever feel like that? Like you just NEED to do something--not because someone's making you do it. You just know you need to do it.

Lexicon is definitely a different story from what I've usually written. I've been writing since I was 10 or 11 [do the math] and have mostly written fantasy (griffins, dragons, prophecies, etc.)--or sometimes sci-fi (cloning, robots, etc.). Lexicon (not the prequel) takes place on earth here and now. Though the main character (guess who--Lexicon!) is an extraterrestrial guy, the story has nothing to do with space ships or anything like that [though, he did bring a small, inconsequential piece of technology and a special plant from his home]. It's about US.

When I say "us", I mean teenagers--Christian and non--and their problems. Lexicon arrives and "rocks our world" so to speak. I feel that it's very important that this book gets written and, in time, made into a movie (though I want to be a big part of helping it become a movie--I don't want them doing too much tweaking to my baby!).

There are a few similarities to past works of mine--Lexicon has a "gift" (I think in all the stories I write, someone has a super-power/gift). Plus, he IS an alien so, yeah...

Well, I'm not sure how much I can tell you...I'm a little paranoid about posting my stuff on the internet.

When Lexicon touches things/people, he's given glimpses into its/their life. For instance, (in the very sci-fi short prequel) I had Lexicon pick up a Bible and he saw the tree where it came from growing and misc. people reading the book.

Did I mention that I'm excited? Sorry I'm not going to tell you anymore. Maybe when it gets published, you'll go buy it... :)

Well, okay, I'll tell you a little more. Here--I'll tell you what Lexicon looks like. He's tall [over 6 feet tall] and has bright red hair. His skin is white as a piece of paper and won't tan or burn because he photosynthesizes [though he does eat, too--photosynthesis is mostly a back-up mechanism]. So he soaks the sun in through his skin. (Hey, it's my story! I can make up a photosynthesizing alien if I want to! :P ) He has very good posture [he's the son of an emperor] and is very courteous.

Well, anyways, I hope I didn't bore you too much! I'm just so excited, I wanted to share some of what I was excited about.

YAY!!! LEXICON!!!

So for a while I took a break from writing Lexicon [I am still kind of doing it on and off] but then I decided to come back to it. I couldn't find all the stuff I had written! I couldn't even remember if it was in a notebook or what kind of notebook it might be in. You see, I wrote most of my stuff before I type it up. I hadn't typed a lot of it on the computer yet so I needed to find all my Lexicon papers! [I got started on it again but it's always helpful to know what you've already written.]

Where, oh, where could my Lexicon be??? [I was quite forlorn.]
A few days, I remembered what I had put all my Lexicon papers in but still couldn't FIND them. I just had a lovely picture of what it would look like when I DID find them. :P
Well, yesterday, I was cleaning up my room [I'm very proud of myself]. My mom came in and wanted to put something on a shelf. She asked, "What's on that box?" [There was this box on the shelf on my wall behind the curtain.]
I looked on top of the box and saw a scrapbook and...a black binder sticking out. I went completely berserk. I pulled it out and found that it was, indeed, MY BELOVED LEXICON!!!
So all is well with me right now.

"Super powers" in the Bible

Yeah, a weird topic, right?

I'll do some background info on this post. Being a Christian and a sci-fi/fantasy writer is quite an interesting mix if you think about it. In movies like X-men or Spider-man, they can just put weird super powers in there randomly because there doesn't really need to be a purpose--evolution is random.

But when you introduce God into the picture, things need to have more of a purpose. There needs to be a reason for a person to be able to do something "super".

So I started thinking about the Bible for any instances in which there are "super powers" that God gave to people.

I found several instances.
First of all [and I think the most obvious] is Samson and his super strength.

Superman and Samson

Then there's the prophet Elijah who ran faster than Ahab's chariot--let's call that "super speed"
The Flash and Elijah

There's also Philip:
"...Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing. Philip, however, appeared at Azotus and traveled about, preaching the gospel in all the towns until he reached Caesarea..."
So...wouldn't that be teleportation?
That's all I've found so far...anyone have anymore ideas?

If We Are the Body...

I love this song. I listened to it some weeks ago and it reminded me of the story I'm writing [Lexicon], specifically one of the main characters--Nikky. She's so selfish/self-absorbed that she doesn't notice or really care about those around her--even her "best friend". She doesn't notice or care enough to try to help those around her.

I'm sure most of us--if not all--are like Nikky to a certain extent and, yes, I'm including myself. I mean, sometimes [or many times] we just get so wrapped up in what's going on in our little bubble and how we get from point A to point B without thinking or even looking at the people around us. I want to work on this more myself. If you were to stop and say ONE kind word to ONE person, you could make that person's entire day.
You know, I've kind of wondered, if someone were considering suicide and you were to take the time to say something kind to them--could you possibly stop them from leaping off a building or slitting their wrists without realizing it? I just wonder like that sometimes...

So...here are the lyrics to "if we are the body" by Casting Crowns.

-----------

It's crowded in worship today
As she slips in
Trying to fade into the faces
The girls' teasing laughter is carrying farther than they know
Farther than they know

CHORUS
But if we are the Body
Why aren't His arms reaching
Why aren't His hands healing
Why aren't His words teaching
And if we are the Body
Why aren't His feet going
Why is His love not showing them there is a way
There is a way

A traveler is far away from home
He sheds his coat
And quietly sinks into the back row
The weight of their judgmental glances tells him that his chances
Are better out on the road

CHORUS
But if we are the Body
Why aren't His arms reaching
Why aren't His hands healing
Why aren't His words teaching
And if we are the Body
Why aren't His feet going
Why is His love not showing them there is a way

Jesus paid much too high a price
For us to pick and choose who should come
And we are the Body of Christ

Chorus (2x)
If we are the body
Why aren't His arms reaching
Why aren't His hands healing
Why aren't His words teaching
And if we are the body
Why aren't His feet going
Why is His love not showing them there is a way

Jesus is the way

An Excerpt of My Writing

Here's an excerpt of something I wrote a long while back [no, it's not Lexicon]. I just thought you should see a bit of what I do when I'm sitting down with my clipboard. Know that I haven't done anything with this story in a long while so I'm sure there's lots of stuff in it that should be changed so try to read it with an open mind. [Warning: It's pretty long, I think] Enjoy!

Rick McAlister collapsed onto the couch in his living room and ran his fingers through his brown, almost black hair. It had been a long day.
Rick worked for a photographer by the name of Joe Curtis as his assistant and apprentice. Whenever Joe got sick or he went on vacation with his petite wife, Valerie, Rick was left in charge of everything. He was in charge of booking, the actual photography for that day, touching up photos--everything. Today had been one of those days when Joe had gone on vacation.

Rick was so tired. He unlaced his shoelaces and took off his shoes and socks. He arose and walked into the kitchen to fix himself some dinner. He had just poured a can of soup into a pot on the stove when he heard a beeping sound. It was the answering machine.

Apparently someone had left a message. He walked over to the bar and pushed "play" on the answering machine. He walked back over to the stove and stirred the soup with a wooden spoon. The message began. It was the voice of a woman.

"Hi, Patrick," she said, "I know you don't remember me but...I was so happy when I saw you today."

Who was this girl? Rick walked over to the answering machine again, listening closely. Surely she had him confused with some other Patrick. But how did she know his first name? Maybe she would leave her phone number so he could call her back and set things straight.

"...I know your phone number because I saw you write down your home phone number for Sandy's mom..."

Sandy was a bride that he had done pictures for that day. How did this girl know Sandy?

"...I would like to see you again and talk. Next time I see you, I will come up to you. God bless you, Patrick McAlister."

The machine beeped and said, "That was your last message."

Rick pushed 'save' and went back to making supper.

Who was that girl/ Why had she called him? Was there a chance that he did know her? He remembered when earlier that day he had given one of his customers his home phone number in case she had more questions about her pictures. At that time they had been taking pictures in Victory park of her daughter's wedding.

Rick ran over, in his mind, all the people that had been around at that time. There was the bride, the groom, the groomsmen, the bridesmaids, the ring bearer, the flower girl, and, of course, the guest as well as the pastor who was performing the ceremony. The girl who had called him was probably a bridesmaid.

That night, instead of watching the edge-of-your-seat, action-packed, thriller he had rented at the movie store on his way home, Rick listened to the mysterious message over and over, sometimes rewinding to see if there was a clue to who the girl was in what she said. He finally decided that it had to be one of the bridesmaids but, at first, he wasn't sure which one.

There had been a couple that had caught his eye. Both were brunettes but one had skin that was paler than the others' and had freckles. The lighter-skinned one wasn't as giggly as the other bridesmaids. As a matter of fact, she was very serious every time he ever glanced over at her through out the entire wedding. She had made him somewhat uncomfortable because she had kept staring at him with an expression he could not read. She was not difficult at all to deal with--especially when it came to the pictures. In fact, she seemed very glad to do whatever he said. She had to be the one who had left the message.

What was her name? He did know that she was the maid-of-honor--but what was her name? He had heard the bride say her name but had a hard time remembering it, besides that it started with a "B". Was it Betsy? Beth? Bonnie? No, it could not have been Bonnie! That did not sound right. It was either Beth or Betsy. Whatever her name was, he had to talk to her and ask her how--or if--he knew her.

Rick tossed and turned that night, his mind burning with curiosity at the mystery of it all.

The next day, Rick arrived at work in his pick-up truck. He parked in front of the little, brick building with the sign that read "Curtis Photography". He pulled out his key and unlocked the door. That was how Rick's work day began that day.

As soon as he could, Rick looked through his client info and called the mother-of-the-bride whose wedding he had done the day before.

A woman's voice answered. "Hello?"

"Is this Mrs. Hatch?"

"Yes, who is this?"

"Ma,am, this is Rick McAlister from Curtis Photography."

"Oh, yes."

"Well, I received a call from the maid-of-honor last night."

"Beth?"

"Yeah."

"Really."

"I thought the same thing. Would you give me Beth's phone number so I can get a hold of her/ She left a message but it was very strange and she did not leave her name or phone number. Through the process of elimination, I figured that it had to be Beth."

"I can do you one better. Beth and I are coming together to get the pictures when they are ready. Beth is going to scrapbook the wedding pictures so they will be ready to give my daughter and Tom when they return from their honeymoon so you can talk to Beth when we we come get the pictures."

"Okay. Thank you very much, Mrs. Hatch."

"You are welcome. I myself am curious."

"Well, good bye."

"Good bye."

Rick hung up. He should've had Mrs. Hatch give him Beth's phone number anyway. Well, as long as he got to talk to her.

As Rick was finishing off a sack lunch, he heard the little bell on the front door jingle. He looked up from the computer. Walking in was his boss.

Surprised Rick said, "Hey, Joe. I wasn't expecting you to be back for another week."

Joe shook his head. "We never reached the airport. I woke up the day we were supposed to leave with a nasty cough. Valerie, of course, wouldn't let me go out of the house--you know how she is."

Rick smiled and nodded, understanding.

Valerie was very motherly--sometimes even to her own husband.

Joe sighed. "So, instead of going to Hawaii for a week, we are going out to eat at the Olive Garden tonight and then we will go see a movie."

Rick set his chin on his fist[?]. "That is a bummer."

Joe nodded. "Yeah." He changed the subject. "So how are you?"

"I am okay. You know, the weirdest thing happened yesterday. Last night I went home and found a message on my answering machine from some girl. She said something about being so happy when she saw me yesterday and that she would like to see me again."

"Huh."

Rick noticed that Joe seemed to be trying not to look interested but Rick could see that he was.

"I think she was the maid-of-honor from the wedding I did yesterday. Her name is Beth."

Joe could not hide the look he gave Rick--alarm.

Joe sat across from his lovely wife. She was petite and of Greek descent[?]. She had hair dyed blond and was in her late 30's.

At that moment Valerie's sweet face was twisted[?] into an expression of concern and worry. "Is she really doing that?" she asked.

Joe nodded. "Yes, she is, dear. And if William finds out..."

Valerie gasped and put her hand to her mouth. "Oh, no."

Joe took her hand to comfort her.

"Joseph, you need to call her and change her mind."

"I thought I had convinced her."

"So had I."

Later that night, Joe sat in his blue, overstuffed cushion chair. He held a phone in his hand. "Tomorrow? Tomorrow he will be doing some pictures for an elderly couple ."

"At Victory Park?" came a young woman's voice through the phone.

"Yes...But you can't just...reappear in his life like this!"

"It's too late now. And I can't stay out of his life anymore either. I am so lonely and if only he remembered, he would never stand for this."

"I know you are lonely. And you are right--if he did remember, he would not have stood for this--that is why they did it to him--but he doesn't remember. Besides, he seems happy with his life how it is now. You cannot just barge in and tell him everything about how it was. He may not even believe you--and then what? The memories would be too painful for him. Then there's the huge chance of William finding out. Things would get much worse. There are so many reasons not to tell him."

She was silent for a moment. She finally said, "Uncle Curtis, he would want to know--after all he had tried to accomplish and all we have been through together--he would want to know."

"What about your father? What will you do if he finds out?"

"Except for you and Aunt Curtis, I am alone and have no one who I can reminisce[?] with about those times. I wanted--and still want--to spend the rest of my life with him but so much time has been stolen from us. I am determined to take it back."

"You are avoiding my question--what if William finds out?"

She sighed. "I am so tired of letting him frighten me into doing everything he wants me to. Patrick never let him do that. He stood up to my father--I guess that is one of the things I admired about him. If dad finds out, we could move out of the country."

The only thing Joe could answer with was, "Please don't do it."

"I know--you are trying to protect me but I can't take your advice--not this time anyway. I love you very much. Please tell Aunt Curtis that I said 'hi'. I will see you later--"

"Don't!"
"--Bye."

Joe heard the click of her hanging up. He sighed.

Rick squatted down in front of the stone bench where the elderly couple sat. He placed the camera in front of his eyes and took the picture. They all arose. "What is the occasion?" he asked as they walked.

The couple smiled at each other. The man answered, "It's our 60th wedding anniversary.

"Wow," said Rick. "Congratulations."

She watched as Rick went with the older couple, taking pictures of them in various poses. He was just as handsome as ever--the same almost-black hair and the same pale blue eyes. She hoped he would believe her.

He had to.

She waited for the white-haired married couple to leave.

Finally, the couple stepped into their car and drove away.

Rick was about to get into his car when he heard someone yell--"Patrick!" He looked around.

A girl ran up to him. It was Beth. "You didn't come with Mrs. Hatch to the studio the other day."

"I didn't want to tell you everything in front of anyone. Well, I guess I should start by introducing myself."

"I already know who you are--you're Beth."

She shook her head. "No, my name's Lauren Pottersfield."

He smiled. "No. No, you're kidding me."

"No, I'm not."

"That's the name of President Pottersfield's late daughter."

Ashamed, she said, "Yes. The president is my dad."

"You are kidding me, right?" He started looking around. "I am on Candid Camera, aren't I?"

She shook her head. What words was she to use to tell him everything? "And--we were engaged."

Now he looked at her as though she were from another planet. "Okay. Now I know you're kidding."

She began to cry. She turned away from him.

"Oh, I'm sorry! Don't cry! You are serious, aren't you?"

She turned back to him and nodded.

"Well, I'm sorry but you have got the wrong guy."

Lauren was so frustrated. "No. Patrick, you are wrong. I know you better than you know[?]."

Rick decided to test this girl. "Alright, then. What is my middle name?"

"Adam. Your parents named you that because you were there first son and Adam was the first man God created."

At first, Rick was surprised. "Adam" was just a coincidental guess and her explanation--anyone could figure that out, at least, he thought so. "What is my favorite sport?"

"You don't like sports."

Okay, that was a little weird, he thought.

She went on. "You have wanted to have a motorcycle since your uncle took you on a motorcycle ride when you were ten years old. You have a scar on your left knee from when you fell on a piece of sharp metal. [Another piece of misc. info.] Need I say more?"

Rick was shocked. How did she know so much about him? Was there a chance that she did know himw? Of course, they could have never been engaged but maybe they had been friends at one time. If they had known each other, why would he not be able to remember her?

Perhaps she was the president's dead daughter--as weird as it was. She did look like the pictures he had seen. But it was absolutely impossible for him to have been engaged--surely, he would remember that of all things!

"I also know," she went on, "That you are very stubborn."

He was silent.

Unnable to maintain her compusure any longer, she blurted out, tears racing down her face, "Oh, Patrick, you've got to believe me!"

"But it's not truue. If it was, I would remember."

"No, you wouldn't."

"What do you mean? Surely, I would remember something like that!"

"No, Patrick. They erased your memory of the year before last."

"Two years ago I was in a serious car accident and for a year I was in a coma."

She looked up. "That's what they told you?"

"What do you mean, 'that's what they told you'? Yes, of course! It's what happened!"

"Do you remember being in a car accident?"

"No. The doctors said I may never regain my memory of what happened just before the accident."

Of course. How convenient. "It's not true, Patrick."

That last statement seemed to send Patrick over the edge. "What do you--Do you want me to strangle you?! I like to think of myself as a nice guy but you just come and start saying that a huge even that happened to me and sent me into a coma, didn't happen? How do you explain the deaths of my mom, dad, and three sisters?"

She sighed. "I'm sorry. I should not have told you this so suddenly." She turned away from him. "But--" She looked back at him. "--Would you do one thing for me? When you see Uncle Curtis--your boss--please ask him what really happened to your familyl."

Rick watched as she walked away, leaving him peplexed[?].

So there you go--some of my work. A bit of a cliffhanger, I guess, but that's all I wrote before I became distracted and decided to move onto something else. I hope that you enjoyed reading it--if you actually were able to finish it--and thanks for reading it.

So now you know what I do in my spare time.

*Doing the Happy Dance*

Oh, great happiness of mine!
I have just finished writing the "short" story that will be serving as the prequel for "Lexicon the Dahrian"! I hold it in my lap as I type. [I LOVE the icon below.] I started it as the "short story" assignment we had for Writer's Bloc. Well, it's grown a little bit...

The "short" story is now almost 31 pages long on lined paper. I worked on it while we were gone on our trip and everything. I'm quite happy--no, no--I'm VERY, EXTREMELY, and UTTERLY JUBILANT! It is finished! Well, the first draft is anyway. Now I need to type it up on the computer, edit it, and all that. So far the name of it is "Lexicon the Prequel--a short story" but I don't know...I may change it. But now, after writing this, I know how Lexicon gets from his planet to ours and what his life was like before he came here, etc. Maybe when I type it up I'll let you read it, if you want to. Well, I just wanted to share my happiness with you!

Swimming Extravaganza!

Well, I've been doing a lot of swimming lately...more than I usually do. First, I went and swam in the ocean at Sandy Hook, NJ. Then I went to our CHEER H.S. swimming party [fun, fun, fun! you can see pictures from that on my other blog: Lotsapix2 ]. And THEN I went to Big Splash today.

You see my Aunt Betsy got Hannah & I season passes to Big Splash as our Christmas presents and was kind enough to invite me to bring Patti as well. So that's one of the things we'll be doing this summer. I think to get the full affect of everything I'm going to rent an innertube next time.

<--This one's for you, Sprite! [I found my toes! hee hee]

So how is everyone these days? I hope you're all well! My Dad's working later tonight and my mom/sister have gone to the grocery store so...yeah.
The prequel to Lexicon the Dahrian [on lined paper] is about 21 pages now. I'm at the climax and am afraid to mess it up. This is what the WHOLE story's been building up to and it's the reason Lexicon ends up on earth. I just wanted to find out why Lexicon ends up on earth and what his life was like before he came here and who he was. Maybe I'll post an excerpt sometime. That way you'd know what the heck I'm talking about...mmm...

I'm HOME!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I'm VERY happy. I went to sleep in my own bed which was wonderful. I will add the pictures we took in Philadelphia/NY but I don't know if Dad's taken them off the CD yet so...

Anyways, I took off the songs on the music playlist that weren't working and am adding some other songs. Among them I've added Pippin's Song from LOTR and I'm trying to add the Office theme song again so...yeah. Please tell me if you notice any songs not working or that they've turned red and say "error". That way I can fix it. Thank you.

I thought this was pretty thought-provoking.

I like this one. It's "inspiring" [for lack of a better word]Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Oh! I can't forget that tomorrow night's Writer's Bloc! The date's been changed because of when the guest speaker will be in town.

Also, while I've been gone, I've been writing a prequel to Lexicon just to tell me where he came from and how he ended up being on earth in "Lexicon the Dahrian". I must say, it's a pretty interesting concept. Maybe I'll let you read it sometime if you ask very nicely. [I haven't finished the prequel yet but I'm near the end and am optimistic.]

Anyways...more later! I'm glad to be back!

My Lovely Sister's Blog!!!

Hello, everyone, sorry I haven't posted in a long while. Things have just...been happening.

First of all, I wanted to make you all aware that now my lovely sister, Hannah has a blog of her own! www.hannahwolf.blogspot.com [She loves wolves.] Also, if you ever want to visit it again you can just scroll down on the side of my blog and click "Hannah's Blog". I'm excited for her because I love blogging. =)

Also, this weekend is both Hannah's 12th birthday [can you believe it?] and when we go to the ranch. I'm excited!

Us "jr. leaders" in Regals [the group that we're going to the Ranch with] are going to be the first ones to ride the horses! We're going to go down to the barn and prepare the horses and then ride them to where the children will "board" them. I'm SO excited! I'm a little nervous because I've never "prepared" a horse before. LOL Don't worry--I'll take lots of pictures at the ranch. How could you ever doubt me? ;-)

Also, I'm happy about my story [Lexicon]. The other day I was having a case of "writer's block". Well, then I watched an episode of the t.v. show "Lost", which by the way you can watch on the website for free, and on it one of the characters was Goth. [I've always had a fascination with Goths--perhaps because of my fascination with wearing black. LOL] While watching it, I had an idea--what if instead of my main character [Nikky] being the "popular girl", why don't I have her be Goth? I thought it was such a cool idea...but then I realized that I'd have to rewrite the entire storyline. Plus, having her be Goth, well, it would just change the entire structure of the story and the main girl would be going on a completely different journey. And that had been the entire point of the story was the journey that the "popular girl" goes on. Okay, maybe you didn't have to know that but I'm just kind of proud of myself that I kept myself from making that mistake. Maybe in a future book, the main character can be Goth...

Well, this has been a long post so I will be done for now.
I don't know when my next post will be but keep checking!
