Nail Polish Sadness & Job Interviews

[Like many of the pictures I use in my blog--none of the pictures on this post are mine. I didn't take them or edit them,etc.]

Alright, so my homeschool group is having a high school swimming party that I'm VERY excited about. I wanted to paint my fingernails green because I thought that'd be fun and out of the ordinary. And I wanted to paint them green before the swimming party. So yesterday when we went to Sally's to get my hair spray stuff [to protect my hair from the hair straightener] I looked to see if they had any green nail polish.

They did have green nail polish but it wasn't the kind I wanted [I thought it was too bright]. Maybe I should have gotten it anyway. Then I looked around in Wal-Mart but the only green nail polish they had was really light, kind of almost gray.

So now I am very sad and will probably just wear red instead [haha that rhymes--I'm a genius!] to the swimming party. But I will get green nail polish SOMEhow! Oh, well. Maybe I can get some and wear it to teen game night...

Okay, so about the job interview...

A couple years ago I volunteered at the library and met Mrs. Marie who's pretty fabulous and kind of got to know the librarians a little better. I enjoyed volunteering and thought it might be cool to work there.

Well, now the opportunity has come and I'm taking it! There are two openings for Shelvers at my library and I applied for them. I was called for a screening interview, which I thought went very well [the woman kept saying, "Oh, good answer", which made me happy]. Then yesterday, I went in for the actual interview.

I really enjoyed it! LOL No, really, I did. It was fun. I wasn't very nervous because I already know these people and Mrs. Marie really likes me. I answered Ms. [I'm not sure if she's a Miss or Mrs.] Anne's questions, which were mostly easy. Then Mrs. Marie came in to ask me some *wink* questions. She came in and asked who the leader of Uzbekistan is. LOL I asked if we could do one more...American. Then we all three [Ms. Anne, Mrs. Marie, and I] got to talking and it was really cool. We talked about things at the library that I didn't think they needed to tell me unless they were going to hire me. Plus, Mrs. Marie said things like, "and we won't put you up at the desk immediately..." which makes it sound like I already HAVE the job.

I REALLY want to work there! I think it's a great work environment, I love the people, and I like books and alphabetizing stuff! And they said they like me and Mrs. Marie said I have a very easy-going personality and that's good. YES! So hire me!!! This job is SO mine.

Ms. Anne said she had four more people to interview and would know by early next week. PLEASE pray I get this job!

Ohh, the suspense is terrible! But I have faith that this job is MINE.

Well, I just want to blog right now--I don't have any idea what I'm going to blog about, though, which could present a problem...

I like grilled cheese sandwiches...they're tasty...I should probably stop thinking about food...

Mom and Dad went to the homeschool convention in OKC today and they'll be home in a while...We'll be having burritos for dinner...Stop thinking about food! I'm hungry! Okay, I'm going to stop thinking about food...I want ice cream!

Okay, now I'll stop...Did I mention that I'm hungry???

Well, I got back a while ago from a recital. My friend, John was playing the piano there as was Alex, Elizabeth, and Raquel. It was cool. You guys did great!

Also, I had an interesting thought the other day--

You know you're too young to date when your parents can ground you from seeing your boyfriend [or girlfriend if you're a guy].

Just a thought...

I can't think of anything else to write so....I give up for now...LOL

Interesting picture

We were at a stoplight yesterday and I decided to take this. I thought it would be a neat pic. Hope you like!

Well, yesterday, was the first H.S. Book Discussion for this school year...I thought it was really good. There was actually a DISCUSSION going on. There was more than just three people who talked! 'Twas grand! Also, there was a certain person who amazed me with how serious they were about the whole thing! I'd never--NEVER--seen that person so serious in all my life and it was pretty cool.

I drew a picture as part of the assignment. At first, I kept getting mad at the paper because I couldn't make an EYE that looked right! You're probably thinking "okay..." but the eyes and the shape of the face is the first thing I draw so I was not getting off to a good start. I finally fixed it because I realized she was looking down her eyes would probably look closed anyways. That made life so much easier. I took a bunch of pictures of myself--my head looking down, my neck, and my arm--so I could draw the picture of Clarisse better. I still never did get the arms and hands right...

Okay, if I were you, I probably wouldn't care very much about that so I'll end that part by saying--I think it turned out pretty well. Mom and Dad say that I was able to show motion [the wind] in the picture and that was cool. :)

Why are the aliens doing the macarena?

It's been raining a lot today. I love the rain. It's so refreshing after it rains, as though the world has been wrinsed off.

I love the word "goblet". It's just so fun to say! Goblet, goblet, goblet... :) LOL

Another just as random thought--I think that griffins are so cool! I have thought they were cool since I watched the Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and saw one in the battle scene near the end. Well, I'm excited about the High School Yearbook Club. We'll be having our first meeting in September. I'm hoping that it won't just be girls in the yearbook club this year. I think this will be fun. :)

I was looking at brides' magazines today and saw some fun dresses and things. 'Twas fun. :) I love looking at brides' magazines....Well, anyway, I saw this one picture of a woman wearing a black top hat with a veil hanging over it. I thought it looked so cool. So...yeah. Am I the only girl who looks at brides' magazines at Wal-Mart? LOL

What's going on with you guys?

Kissing in the Rain

Question: Why is kissing in the rain seen as being so romantic?

[I'm not sure if I think it's romantic--I've never done it before--but it does LOOK romantic.]

That question is raised specifically in Lady in the Water [if I remember correctly].

Here are three examples of movies in which the love interests kiss in the rain:

1.) The Notebook [I did not like that movie but it is still an example]

2.) Spider-Man [the famous upside-down-spidey kiss] =)

3.) A Cinderella Story [*sigh* LOL].

The movie itself could be cheesy but I still kind of like it.

So--why IS kissing in the rain seen as being so romantic?

A Lot to Say

[Above is the cast of the movie "Serenity"--I love that movie and watched it last night.]

Well, I am now part of the "Teen Team" at the library for the summer. I'm kind of nervous--I do not care much for dealing with the public but hopefully I will just have to deal with children so...It could be fun. We are supposed to be getting together Tuesday evening to get to know each other, eat (all right! I'm going!), and do stuff for the library. When I was being interviewed for this, I told her how I was in plays in the community. Then a few minutes later, she was telling me how important it was when the kids do the reading program and come in when they have read books, that we are supposed to be really excited for them--but with my acting experience, she said, it shouldn't be too hard. So I'll just pretend that I care--that's funny.

Does everyone out there know that I am a huge fan of Kutless? Well, I am. I have wanted a Kutless poster for a very long time. Three or four days ago, I ordered a Kutless poster, some Kutless stickers, and a pin off their website. Well, yesterday, they finally arrived! I was quite pleased with the poster--a glossy 8x10 so I guess it would be more like just a picture--the other things, except all the stickers and the pin were a lot smaller than I thought they'd be. I screamed when the package arrived, I was so excited. I am going to save the Kutless picture and frame it and hang it up in my own room when I have it. :-)

Also, I started cleaning up my room yesterday and was very proud of myself [this is the part where you come over and give me a good pat on the back because I deserve it]. My room looks so much better. You can actually see my dresser--amazing, I know. I also hung all of my Lord of the Rings stuff [posters, pictures, etc.] on the walls because I figured I'm not going to be going to my own room too soon, my room might as well look good--plus, it helped me clean out my drawers of all the posters and such. Now, my wall is covered in LOTR stuff. It is indeed a jaw-dropping sight to behold.

Mad-Lib--Speaking of Speaking

Here is a Mad-Lib that we did on the way to the capital [the bold words are the blanks that we filled].
A recent agitated poll shows that the majority of people are terrified of public loving. They would rather walk across burning ash trays or swim in boy-infested waters than give a speech in front of a group of girls. This weird fear can be overcome in five easy braces:
1. Organize all of your sharks on a piece of rail.
2. Remember to start your speech with a funny glass.
3. When speaking, look your audience straight in the forearm and speak in a strong and strange voice.
4. Be simple. Never use black words that are over the audience's nostril.
5. Always keep a pitcher of nail polish next to you, in case your earlobe goes dry.

Ho-Hum

Well, Allie's officially gone and I need to write her a letter to see how she's doing.
Today we had a really fun time in co-op class. We laughed, we cried, etc. [LOL] Teen game night is next Thursday and next Monday I have to have my 3-5 minute long report on Tony Randall ready. Ugh!
Dad's been working on the computer(s) and I will soon "officially" have my own computer but it's unofficial now. I'm excited! It's one small step for mankind but one giant LEAP for Catrina-kind!

Many Things to Say...

So many things have happened recently! [Hopefully, I can remember them all.]

1. I held a surprise going-away party for my friends, Allie and Cierra [I already mentioned that they are moving back to Nebraska]. I gave Allie a scrapbook that I'd made for her and gave Cierra a picture frame and some pictures.

2. I went to our church's ranch--took as many pictures as I could. I [and the other jr. leaders had more responsibility--yay! No, really, that's a good thing. We were actually "leading" this time]

3. I got glasses! Now, I won't get so many headaches! [I'm slightly near-sighted--one eye more than the other.] I got them just in time to go to the ranch. I'll be able to see the white-board at OK history class without having to consentrate really hard/squint!

New Bed, Hair, King Kong, Story, etc.

How is everybody doing? (Just so you know, I just figured out that I can move pictures around on a post!)
Well, first of all I just got a new bed for the room I'm going to have! It's a "captain's bed" and it's made of white-washed pine. It's really great because it has storage beneath it--four drawers and a little cabinet. (The room that I will be living in isn't very big--but it will be my own!)
I just saw King Kong (the pictures on this post are from that movie). It was really good. The first part was a little long but...There was also a part that really freaked me out (it involves giant bugs). That's beside the point, though. The special effects were great (of course! This is a Peter Jackson--a.k.a. director of LOTR--movie!) I thought it was interesting that ate certain parts the movie seemed to refer to elements, people, etc. From the 1933 version of King Kong. You may notice it, too, and then again you may not.

Here is some King Kong trivia:
~The guy (Adrien Brody, see above picture, guy on the left) who played the writer, Jack Driscoll played Noah Percy (the mentally handicapped guy) in The Village. (He actually looks handsome in King Kong.) (Random thought: he has a pretty crooked nose--oh! I just found out why. Here's what I read on IMDB.com: He was furious when his nose was broken during the final fight in "Summer of Sam", but when he had it fixed, he didn't change it. That nose is now Brody's most identifying feature and sets him apart from other actors.)
~The guy (Andy Serkis) that played Gollum in LOTR plays King Kong (really, he does) and Lumpy (the guy with one eye closed all/most of the time).
I went to get my hair cut and Adam (a friend of my family and the guy who does our hair) said something that was kind of bizarre. Just the day before I had been noticing that there was a piece of my hair that was shorter than the rest (and didn't have layers in my hair). Adam said that it looked like a bunch of my hair fell out and then (about 5 months ago) started to grow back! So, some of my hair fell out! Weird, huh?

Okay, I would like your opinion(s) on this. I wrote a story a while back called "Shadow of the Mountain". It's genre is fantasy and I created a sort of language for the imaginary world that I had made. I just went back and I have decided to change the story but to also, I think, change the language. That means that the characters will have different names and that the places will have different names. At the moment the name of the main character (a girl, of course) is Loais (it means "special"). Can you pronounce it? I've been saying it this way: "LOW-AYSS". If I change the language, I believe I shall call her A'endra Nuga (mostly just called A'endra), which means "wealthy life". At the moment the "love interest's" (no, this is not a completely "lovey dovey" story--it takes place in a camp where a unit(?) of soldiers are living during a war) name is Kael Eith (KAYL EETH, "keeps oath") but if I change the language he may become Na'ets-Vela (NAYTZ veh-luh, "leads many"). The villainess who is now Laathol Nom could become Droah (DROH-uh, "flower"). The country where the main girl (Loais/A'endra) lives could go from Ei-Shael (EE-SHAYL, "oak trees") to Reuad (ROO-add, "quiet"). Any thoughts? Which do you like better--the first language or the latter one? I just wanted an opinion on this from someone--besides myself, I guess. (LOL)

New Room!

Hello, everyone!

[Cool picture to the left, huh? It's a picture of a place in LOTR called Minas Tirith. I like its name a lot.]
It has been a long time since I posted on "Once Upon A Time".
I thought I would tell you about something that I'm very excited about! I'm going to have my own room! [In case you did not know, I have been sharing a room with my younger sister since I was not even 7--I'm now 15.] I'm very excited! I will be moving into the homeschool room. The room will be small but it will be mine and that is all that matters! The walls will be painted an apple-green color (officially, "celery sprig"). The colors for the room's accessories (etc.) will be green (lime/apple), blues, and purples/lavender, I think. I think that it will look really cool. I've been sleeping on a bunk bed for as long as I've been sharing a room and I'm ready to have my own bed that's on the floor or doesn't have another bed above it. Most of the time I've been sleeping on the top bunk.

Long Time, No...Write?

Well, anyway, this post isn't about Flightplan.
Yesterday, was H.S. Oklahoma History Class. I enjoy it a lot. We took the first test yesterday. (I'm pretty sure that I only got one or two wrong out of 50 questions.) After we took the test, Mrs. C. Had us write a song about what we had learned to the toon of "This land is your land, this land is my land from California to the New York island". She (our teacher) pretty much wrote the entire first verse. Then she said that she was going to go out to grade our tests and that we were to write two more verses by the time she got back. When she said that we were all thinking, "Oh, great..." but then she said that it could mean the difference between having to do a five page essay and no homework so I was now thinking, "Oh, yeah, let's get to work!" :-) So we were able to do it. I helped write the first two lines of the third verse: "Then came the Trail of Tears, and the Golden Years"... I'm so proud of myself--somebody give me a pat on the back.

Here are some childhood myths that I'm looking into to see whether they're fact or fiction.

1. Your blanket is bullet-proof, monster-proof, and boogie-man-proof

2. Money grows on trees

3. A band-aid can fix any "boo-boo" (even if you have a cut that is four inches long and is gaping wide open).

4. Mommy can do anything (including, chase the bad dreams away)

Believe it, or not, all of these myths are fiction. I know, I know. It's a sad fact. But none of these myths are true. All of you who are over sixteen-years-old who believed these myths (especially #4) up until now need to go to some kind of councelling or mental hospital or something.
