I am back from Teenpact now--it was wontrifical! [a new word I learned from a guy called "Fuzz"] I had such a wontrifical time! I was able to hear the sound of politics, interview lobbyists, make new friends, get to know not-quite-as-new friends, and vote in an election [even if it wasn't real].
This post is about a small element of Teenpact.
--------------------------------------
I kept telling girls at Teenpact that I should come there more often because the guys open the doors for you. The guys were definitely encouraged to be chivalrous towards the girls and the girls were told that we should accept their random acts of kindness [they didn't need to tell me that, though]
Here is one thing that happened when I was in my committee [the "DOC" committee--as opposed to the PDA or PDF or JPEG committee] as we were taking group pictures. When I went to pick up my things off the ground I found that a can of Sprite had spilled onto my notebook and the booklet that included the U.S. Constitution and Declaration of Independence. I wasn't sure what to do and went on a little bit about it to my lovely friend, Garrett. A quiet guy [in my committee] who I'd never talked to came up, took the U.S. Constitution, wiped it off, and handed it back to me. I just thought that was so nice of him! [yes, mom, I said thank you!]
Another thing....
Pretty much the entire time I was in OKC, the wind was blowing like crazy--not good for girls wearing skirts. And we were all required to wear skirts... Anyways, today when we were about to go to the Sequoyah building our leaders stopped our comittee and had the guys take the girl's bags so they could worry about their skirts. They told the girls not to refuse [another thing you don't have to tell me]. It was so cool! This group of guys carrying all these purses [some carrying more than one--bravo!] and the girls walking behind. It just made me feel so special! I didn't think the guys carrying purses looked any less manly--in fact, I thought it added to their manliness.
Even though it sometimes felt weird the whole thing because it made sure we were different from the guys--it made me feel so ladylike and special [I guess I already mentioned that part].
Also, [this has nothing to do with Teenpact rules/suggestions] I was impressed when my friend, Taylor [he gave me a ride to OKC] came to pick me up and helped me carry my luggage! Brownie points for you!
Actually, I give brownie points to all the guys out their who are manly enough to carry women's purses, open doors, and help carry their luggage.
Bravo!
